About us - Siemensstadt Square
One million square meters of berlin’s future –sustainable. inclusive. digital.
Siemens was founded in Berlin 175 years ago. In keeping with this tradition, we are reshaping our Berlin production site into a future-oriented district which will redefine the way we live and work as well as our production and research environments.
With Siemensstadt Square we are prototyping a hybrid city that seamlessly connects the analog and digital worlds to create a district that is built and operated sustainably and efficiently and is highly inclusive and liveable.
The Hybrid City also combines production with living, science and leisure. Siemensstadt Square will become one of the largest and digitally operated plants in an urban context. Nowhere else do industry and life mix to such an extent. Siemensstadt Square will generate digital and sustainable solutions from industrial production for urban environments.
Siemensstadt Square will be a district of short distances with a primary school, 2,700 new apartments, day-care centers, retail facililties, restaurants and culture. This is how Siemensstadt Square is creating connections. Between yesterday, today and tomorrow. Between working and living. Between science and technology, education, research and development. Between Siemens, its partners, customers and the people of the city. Between Berlin and the world.
Stefan Kögl, General Manager of Siemensstadt Square
“In Siemensstadt Square we are creating a holistic city twin which gives us the opportunity to simulate and significantly optimize the planning and operations of our district. This will allow us to create more sustainable and inclusive cities. The goal is to develop with our partners a prototype digital city twin for Siemensstadt Square that offers many technological solutions and provides answers to urban challenges.”
